The Rugged Suppressors M14.5X1 LH Piston features a non-slotted design that creates a full circumference gas seal, drastically lowering gas blowback for a more enjoyable shooting experience. Machined from 17-4 Stainless Steel and heat treated, this piston is built to last. Designed for use with the Obsidian 45 suppressor.

Note: Pistons are generally used with a booster system on handguns. A Fixed Spacer is required for use on carbines and subguns.

Specifications

Suppressor pistons — also called Nielsen device pistons or boosters — are used in the booster assembly of a pistol suppressor to allow reliable cycling on semi-automatic pistols with a tilting or rotating barrel. When a suppressor is attached to a pistol, the added weight at the muzzle resists the rearward travel of the barrel during the recoil cycle. The Nielsen device uses a spring-loaded piston inside the suppressor’s mount that allows the suppressor body to remain momentarily stationary while the barrel travels rearward, decoupling the suppressor’s mass from the barrel’s recoil stroke so the pistol cycles reliably. Each piston is machined to a specific thread pitch to match the host pistol’s barrel threads — confirm your barrel’s thread pitch matches the piston before ordering, as thread pitches are not interchangeable. Common pistol thread pitches include 1/2×28 for most 9mm pistols, .578×28 for most .45 ACP hosts, M13.5×1 LH for HK pistols, M14.5×1 LH for HK UMP, and M16x1 LH or RH for various European pistols. Pistons are specific to the Rugged Suppressors Obsidian 9 or Obsidian 45 suppressor series and are not interchangeable with other brands’ piston systems without verifying compatibility.
